The Ivy (March 11)

Today I woke up really early so I could finally attend mass. I have been so busy since I have been back that I haven’t had the time to look up a church and attend one. I finally got around to it this weekend. Because we were going to be gone most of the day I decided to go to the 830am mass. It was just a quick 10 minutes bus ride from the stop outside my apartment and only costs $1.
I had no idea where to get off I just knew what road it was on. I asked the bus driver and he wasn’t too sure but I fixed this problem after only being on the bus for a few minutes. These two very cute old ladies came on the bus and they were all dressed up. They ended up sitting next to me so when they did I asked them where they were headed. Luckily they were off to mass, one was going to the same church I was headed to and the other was headed to another church right across the road. They were very nice and showed me how to get there. I arrived at mass about 20 minutes early because of the times the bus runs. It was nice to get their early and not only enjoy looking around the church but also observing the people who were there. Due to the early time of the mass it was mainly old people and then little kids because they had children’s liturgy.
An older priest, who seems very nice, said the mass. It was a little different because instead of a homily by the priest, a lady came to talk about Caritas, which is part of one of the Church’s Lenten projects. They also sang the Our Father and had white wine. After common the priest couldn’t help but give a short homily about the gospel, which I was very happy about.
After mass I had to go straight over to the bus stop because the bus left at 9:32am. I caught the bus just in time and was home in 10 minutes. Overall I really enjoyed the mass and the community. It was a very old church with old song booklets and everything but it was still a nice church. Next weekend I am trying out one other church to see which one I like better.

After church I had about an hour to make lunch and get ready to head to The Ivy. The Ivy is a very nice nightclub that I have wanted to go to for a while now. It is normally very expensive and fancy but they were hosting a special even called Marcopolo and we were able to get on the list. A big group of us from the parklands all hopped on the bus, since the trains were not running this weekend, and headed downtown to George Street. We did not realize the event started at one so we were there an hour early. To kill time we went and got food and Breezy and I made the trek to one of the 5 Starbuck’s in Sydney.
Missed this! I think there are only 5 Starbucks in Sydney
Crazy to think when we have them on almost every corner back at home

It was finally one and we could be let in. With our names being on the list we got free entry as well as free drinks for an hour while we were there. It was a poolside event with all these different private sections. It was so cute and fun. There was a DJ and lots of people. Our group snagged the sofa bench and all hung out there and by the pool all day long. It was so much fun. I am so glad I got to experience The Ivy during the day and hope to visit it again but at night.
Cool Cages that were hanging in a side street to the ivy

We got back around 8 so I made some dinner, did some homework, and then called it a night. It was a great day and I can’t wait to go back to revisit the Ivy again.
