A visit to Maxine's and a night with El Jimador! (February 18)

After a trip to the bank and packing clothes and a bag for the day I took a train to Wynyard and then walked to the Central Quay where I caught the Tarango Zoo Ferry. After the ferry I got on a bus to Balmoral Beach which is where one of my Auntie Jan’s good friends Maxine lives. (she is also Tracy’s cousin) I accidently got off the bus way too early so I had to walk down to the beach (about a 15 minute walk) where I met Maxine and her daughter Bonna the bus stop. We walked along the beach to her house, which is literally right on the beach. It is a gorgeous white house with a little front yard and then the beach. I was in love!!

The weather was nice but then turned gross but we still were able to sit outside. I met some of her friends who had stopped by and I also met her son Angus and her husband Roy. Roy was feeling under the weather so I didn’t see much of him but I chatted a lot with Maxine and her friends all who were very nice and welcoming. I found out that Maxine’s husband Roy is running for Mayor and I also learned a lot about the area and other things. She served me squash which is basically squeezed lemon juice with pulp and soda water it was a refreshing drink. Maxine made a delightful dinner of steak and salad. It was perfect. After dinner I changed really quick and Roy drove me down to the ferry. I took the 12 minute ferry across to Central where I met up with my friends. We all took cabs over to the Festival Follies Don’t Shoot El Jimador Event. When we first arrived we were in the middle of nowhere and it was just a ton of warehouses. But when we (Joakim, Johan, Tron, Lewis, Tyler, Molly, Rachel, Tash, Me, Tim, Suzy, and Anaelle) went inside it ended up bein gone of the most unique and interesting parties I have been too. The theme was so cool and there was such a variety and mix of people. I loved it and the best part was is it was FREE!! There were a handful of different mixed drinks you could choose from and they were serving hot dogs for food. They had 2 different dj’s as well. The first dj was okay he played mellow social music that was good for talking and hanging around. The second dj on the other hand was amazing he was incredible at mixing two songs together and that made the night a lot of fun.
we signed on the hat : )

The event ended at 10 so we all walked to the St. Peters train station that we took into the city and ended up at Sweeny’s rooftop bar (this was the second time we had been here). The first time we went there we had a blast and loved it but this night it was dubstep themed so after so long I couldn’t really take it anymore so we headed home. Overall the night was amazing I loved the event and we all had a blast. When we got home Tyler Tash and I introduce Johan to grilled cheese! (its so funny because so many people here don’t know what a grill cheese is and we always have to explain to them what it is).
