I quickly got ready for the beach and headed on my way to Manly by myself. I hadn’t gotten up early enough to go with the people who were going because they didn’t want to miss the surf competition so I just met up with them. By the time I had arrived and met up with them I missed the surf competition because it started quite early. I was able to catch the skateboarded competition and also see some of the highlights from the surf competition. This Australian Surf Open reminded me a lot of the Huntington Beach US Surf Open. It was very similar and mdae me feel at home. I loved it. Around 6 I caught the ferry back to the Circular Quay where I met up with Natasha and Suzy. We headed down to Crown Street (which is right off Oxford street) to this place called the Winery. After getting lost a handful of times and taking a very long time to get there we finally found our way and met up with Meghan Murray a co-worker of my dads. Meghan works at the Brown Forman in Australia but she used to work at the one in Newport so that’s how my dad knew her and how I got to know her. We had a delicious fun dinner with Meghan. She was such great, enjoyable company. I was so happy to finally have met her. She gave me a lovely welcoming gift of bubbles : ) a candle and a bottle of Yarra Burn Premium Cuvee Brut. I cant wait to enjoy this especially with how expensive alcohol is here. During dinner we saw some lightning but didn’t think much of it but then it started pouring rain and lightning during dinner (wouldn’t be a trip without rain). After finishing dinner we tried to wait it out but we ended up running through the rain and catching a taxi to central. From there we took the train home. By the time the train reached Macquarie University it had stopped raining thank god. It’s so nice when it rains because it cools things down a lot especially on hot days like today when there’s a lot of humidity in the air but its nicer when the rain has better timing.
